The Value of Green Building for Economic, Environmental and Social Sustainability
For all of us at Kontractor the continuous search for increasingly sustainable solutions is the first form of responsibility in order to achieve the goal of the Green Building model, through the construction of properties with a low environmental and landscape impact, high energy efficiency and attention to the comfort, health and safety of those who use them.
A concrete example is our commitment to Green Warehousing, in the design and construction of environmentally compatible properties for logistics.
In a context where the supply chain has a significant environmental impact, with logistics activities generating on average around 10-11% of global CO2 emissions according to data from the Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chain (CSLS) of Kühne Logistics University, constructing increasingly sustainable properties means acting in favour of the green transition process.
The OSIL Observatory - the Observatory on Logistics Real Estate of LIUC - Università Cattaneo, which involves the collaboration of important companies, including Kontractor, has introduced a specific sustainable quality, index through a rating system called VA.LO.RE. Its purpose is to analyse and quantify the environmental impact of logistics properties in a concrete way, using objective and shared criteria.
The OSIL research shows that 55% of existing warehouses in Italy do not meet sustainability requirements, while the remaining 45% with environmental certifications, such as those built by Kontractor, achieve levels of absolute excellence by using the most advanced and innovative technological solutions.
Our objective is therefore to contribute to the definition and sharing of a certified and measurable sustainable model of design and construction for every type of property we deliver, in logistics as well as in industrial, commercial and office settings.
