The Value of ESG Criteria as Drivers of Development and Innovation in the Construction Sector
Making the sustainability-related value of the projects we deliver increasingly objective is one of our priority objectives..
Now that non-financial parameters such as ESG criteria are used to measure corporate performance from the perspective of the environment (Environmental), respect for people and communities (Social), and sound management and administration (Governance), our work takes on increasingly concrete and verifiable contours.
This is a new competitive and sustainable factor that describes our properties and our corporate philosophy.
Together with ESG ratings, the increasingly widespread obligation of non-financial reporting and the new European Taxonomy, which classifies environmentally sustainable activities for the ecological transition, are factors that make companies safer, more attractive and more competitive.
Recent analyses have shown that the assessment of a sustainable property, certified in accordance with green protocols, offers higher returns than traditional properties, at a time when a proactive approach to design and construction with regard to ESG issues is also becoming more widespread in lease agreements, which are beginning to include the first ‘green clauses’ aimed at reducing management costs.
Building sustainably means paying attention to many elements: the intended use of the property, the quality of the relationship with stakeholders and the community, reputational benefits for all actors in the supply chain, the reduction of potential legal disputes, lower dependence on energy costs and the minimisation of environmental damage risks.
«A property delivered by us through adherence to ESG criteria becomes, in itself, a Sustainability Manifesto.»
