Wheelchair Karting: a new social sustainability project sponsored by Kontractor by Kopron
A Social Sustainability project launched in March 2020 thanks to the dreams and passion of Niccolò Tremolada who, driven by the desire to bring smiles to others, founded the Wheelchair Karting association to enable people with disabilities to drive a kart.
Niko has been wheelchair-bound since a serious motorcycle accident, but he never lost his passion for motorsport. His desire to get back on track led him to modify a kart to make driving accessible to everyone. He realised it could be done, and that this experience could not remain an end in itself, but could become a form of therapy for all people with disabilities: smile therapy.
Gigi, Niko’s father and president of the association, is a tireless worker and an excellent mechanic. His days revolve around this project, which almost by chance has become his new profession. Where does he find all this motivation and energy? In the happiness he is able to give to others.
«We want to support people with disabilities in becoming aware that it is possible to get back in the game, overcome their limits, challenge themselves and life itself, and achieve results once considered impossible. We do this through KART-THERAPY, encouraging that change and sharing the positive emotions generated by the adrenaline of an on-track experience.»
