Groundbreaking ceremony for the new Secure and Safe Truck Parking Area (SSTPA) with integrated services.
Truck Parking Network Italy, Nection by Padrosa, and Kontractor by Kopron celebrate the launch of an innovative and sustainable new project for road logistics on the border with Slovenia.

Kontractor News New Secure Truck Parking Facility Internal 1Ronchis (UD) is preparing to host an innovative project in the Italian logistics landscape: a secure truck parking facility equipped with cutting-edge services, designed according to the European Union’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on December 11, 2024, was attended by all stakeholders in the supply chain who contributed to the development and launch of this project, including the client Truck Parking Network Italia, Nection by Padrosa, local authorities, the General Contractor Kontractor by Kopron, and the consultants/designers.

A strategic and sustainable infrastructure

Located in a strategic area near the Italian-Slovenian border, the parking facility represents a concrete response to the needs of the transport sector.
The project, entrusted to the General Contractor Kontractor by Kopron, was co-financed with CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) funds, confirming its relevance within the European TEN-T network.
The project stands out for its focus on worker wellbeing, safety, urban decorum, and environmental respect, placing the needs of drivers and local communities at the center.

Integrated services and technical features

The facility will be much more than a simple parking area: it will offer a wide range of services designed to improve drivers’ quality of life, including a refreshment area, changing rooms, showers, laundry facilities, a minimarket, a truck wash tunnel, and spaces prepared for a future guesthouse.

With a total surface area of 90,000 sqm, including 45,000 sqm dedicated to parking for 301 heavy goods vehicles, the facility will be divided into specific areas for refrigerated trucks and vehicles transporting hazardous materials, ensuring maximum safety. The main building, covering 1,700 sqm, will house commercial spaces, offices, relaxation areas, and technical services. The project integrates sustainable solutions such as a photovoltaic system, LED lighting, and energy class A structures.

A shared vision for the future of logistics

Pere Padrosa Pierre, President of Truck Parking Network Italy, highlighted the strategic importance of the project:

«We are building an infrastructure that looks not only to the present, but to the future of logistics, with an unprecedented focus on safety, sustainability, and worker wellbeing. We are truly proud of this project because we are paving a new path for the entire sector. The support of CEF funds demonstrates the central role of this project within the European logistics network.»

Mario Vergani, CEO of Kopron S.p.A., adds:

«This secure parking facility represents a new frontier for Italian logistics. It is a perfect synthesis of innovation, sustainability, and attention to people, allowing us to go beyond the simple construction of infrastructure.»

A shared vision for the future of logistics

The Mayor of Ronchis also highlighted the project’s strategic and local importance:

«Projects like this are born from the synergy between public and private sectors, between vision and action. We are proud that Ronchis has been chosen as the location for an initiative that will not only improve the quality of life of workers and local communities, but will also strengthen the strategic role of our territory within the European logistics landscape. Our thanks go to all our Offices and to my colleagues for the continuous high-level work they carry out!»

A positive impact for the local area and truck drivers

The project is a concrete response to the needs of local communities: reducing heavy traffic in urban centers means not only improving the livability of cities, but also strengthening the connection between modern infrastructure and social wellbeing.
«This project represents a model of innovation and sustainability and is the result of an extraordinary collaboration between partners with a shared vision.», concluded Camillo Mastrolorenzo, General Manager of Kontractor by Kopron.
